Please complete this application to register your dog/s after reading the Notes and Conditions for Dog Registration page on our website. You will be required to indicate that you have read and accept the conditions before you can submit your application. The Notes can be found on our website at Notes and conditions for Dog Registration.
After you have submitted your application Council will contact you with the amount you need to pay and ways to make payment before your dog's registration is issued.

Dog registration fees (on or before/after 1 August) are:

Entire dog: $120.00/$180.00

Neutered dog: $58.00/$87.00

Working dog: $40.00/$60.00

Certified disability assist dog: Free

Microchipping: $25.00

*The Dog Control Act automatically classifies dogs that are wholly or predominantly of these breeds as menacing, no matter how they behave individually. If your dog is classified as menacing you must select Yes above: American Pit Bull Terrier, Brazilian Fila, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Perro de Presa Canario. Any dog can also be classified as menacing by deed regardless of its breed. You must select Yes above if your dog has been classified as menacing by any Council.
Information for owners of multiple dogs
Note: Part 9.10 of the Ōpōtiki District Council Consolidated Bylaws 2020 places a limit on the number of dogs on a premises. If you live in a Residential Zone, Mixed Activity Zone, Ōhiwa Harbour Zone, or Coastal Settlement Zone and want to keep more than two dogs older than three months, complete an 'application for licence to keep more than two dogs' form.. There are no limits in the Rural Zone or Coastal Zone. Contact Council to request this form if required.
